Fangfang draws inspiration from the impressionist theme, creating a mysterious and modern atmosphere. As guests enter through the dark purple curtain, they are transported into another world. The semi-package sofa seats provide both comfort and elegance, while the overall layout exudes the delicacy and sophistication of a French restaurant.
What sets Fangfang apart is its bold and capricious match of elements. The designer aimed to create an absolute texture and a luxuriant atmosphere reminiscent of the Lido dance hall. The project seamlessly integrates seemingly contradictory elements, just like the fusion of ice and fire in the food, resulting in a harmonious and captivating experience.
The realization of Fangfang's design involved the use of geometrical patterns, tough lines, gorgeous colors, and luxurious materials. The reversible wine brands and colorful breathing lights on the roof add to the unique characteristics of the space. The cocktail bar at the entrance sets the tone with its dark romantic ambiance, creating an entertainment atmosphere.
Spanning a total of 521 square meters, Fangfang offers a diverse dining experience. Guests can explore different areas, from the bar to the dining area, each designed to immerse them in a world of delicious food. The layout prioritizes clear navigation and a sense of abundance.
The interaction within Fangfang is carefully crafted to enhance the overall experience. Drawing inspiration from L'Atelier de Joel Rubuchon, the small round tables are surrounded by semicircular sofas, creating a dynamic and ever-changing space. The rotating lights add a touch of magnificence, resembling a colossal colored glaze lamp.
The project, which began in March 2018 and concluded in June 2018, is located in Suzhou, China. The design team, led by Yijie Chen and Jiawei Ni, aimed to create a modern new image with subversive significance for Fangfang, a brand that promotes the pub as its main line.
Fangfang's design is a result of extensive research and creativity. The concept was tailored to suit the vibrant and avant-garde atmosphere of Suzhou Center, a gathering place for fashionable young people and an exhibition area for urban concepts. Nayun Design, the team behind this project, aimed to create a modern and novel experience.
The design of Fangfang presented its fair share of challenges. The team strived to showcase a dining environment with a sense of accomplishment, using minimal devices, exaggerated expressions, and futuristic design elements. The application of curves throughout the space adds rhythm, while the predominantly white and gray tones, accented with red roses, create an abstract and fantastical ambiance.
In summary, Fangfang successfully redefines high-end dining by seamlessly combining a French dinner restaurant with a cool cocktail bar. Its mysterious and modern atmosphere, luxurious materials, and unique mashup of elements create an unforgettable experience for guests. The project's recognition includes the Bronze A' Design Award in 2020, highlighting its outstanding creativity and contribution to quality of life improvements.
